Emmys: Were they laughing at or with Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner? Twitter weighs in
As smooth as a latex turtleneck it was not.
When sisters Kim Kardashian West and Kendall Jenner presented the award for outstanding competition program at Sunday's Emmys it drew the scrutinizing eye of the Twittersphere.
It all started when Kardashian West began earnestly describing her family's long-running show, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," in prepared remarks.
"Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves," Kardashian West said – which may or may not have been a tongue-in-cheek joke.
Was it a sly wisecrack? As a sprinkling of audience laughter rang out, Jenner resolutely continued on: "Telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted," the model said.

Some on Twitter questioned if they were interpreting the moment correctly.
"Did the audience just laugh at Kim and Kendall when they were presenting?" one wondered.
"Did they just laugh at Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner? Kendall’s face seemed annoyed. How sad," read another post.
Others seemed sure the audience was laughing at the reality stars.
"Was anyone else slightly uncomfortable when the audience laughed at Kim and Kendall when they said 'Real people telling real stories about themselves'.. I don’t think they were joking haha," a person shared. "Kendall looked so uncomfortable and Kim’s face just tightened up.."
