Empire Access starts fiber optic expansion in Scranton

Sep. 27—Empire Access, a regional broadband provider serving sections of New York and Pennsylvania, recently broke ground on its 86-mile fiber optic expansion into Scranton.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, with an additional 90 miles projected to be finished in 2024.

The Prattsburgh, New York-based company provides high-speed internet, streaming, phone plans and security solutions to businesses and residents throughout its coverage area.

The company claims to provide affordable plans and reliable internet otherwise not available in the small towns and cities it serves.
