Employee dies at Ocean County Northern Recycling Center in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD−A worker at the Ocean County Northern Recycling Center died on the job Wednesday morning.

Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the center at 800 Towbin Ave. about 10:15 a.m.

Officials said the man was "fatally injured while working in and/or around a large Dumpster."

No further information about the victim was released. The investigation is continuing.

A call to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration was referred to the New Jersey Public Employee Occupational Safety and Health office of the state Department of Labor, which handles workplace deaths at public agencies in the state.

The Asbury Park Press has placed a call to the state office.
