Employee Spits On Co-Worker; Stolen Auto Found: Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Janusz Gubala, 57, of the 7800 block of West Gregory Street, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol concentration level of more than .08, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 5:35 p.m. Sept. 4 following a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Swainwood Drive. He was released on a $1,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Sept. 30.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

Viviana Candelaria, 47, of the 1900 block of Elizabeth Avenue, North Chicago, is accused of driving with no valid driver's license, no valid insurance, driving without taillights, and was arrested at 10:11 p.m. Sept. 4 following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road. She was released on a $2,500 bond, and given a court date of Sept. 30.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 1100 block of Castilian Court reported at 7:46 a.m. Sept. 1 someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the parking lot during the overnight hours and scattered the contents of the compartments around the interior of the vehicle. There is no reported loss.

  • A resident in the 900 block of Arbor Lane called police at 7:19 a.m. Sept. 5 to report an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway was entered at 2:51 a.m. and perfume, credit cards, and cash was taken from inside. The reported loss is $515.

  • An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 11:13 a.m. Sept. 6 someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked in the parking lot and stole a wallet from the center console.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Linden Leaf Drive resident called police at 8:57 a.m. Sept. 1 to report receiving two letters from the Illinois Department of Employment. The first letter awarded $484 per week in benefits from March 28 and the second letter contained a Key Bank debit card. The resident never applied for benefits.

  • A Plesant Lane resident reported at 12:05 a.m. Sept. 3 receiving an Illinois Department of Employment Security debit card in the mail in July 2020. The resident never applied for unemployment benefits.

THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Claire Court called police at noon Sept. 1 to report someone sent fraudulent invoices for material from a customer’s account and the invoices were paid. The reported loss is over $10,000.

  • A Springdale Avenue resident reported at 4:27 p.m. Sept. 4 someone gained unauthorized access to their computer and transferred money from their bank account. The reported loss is $2,700.

  • A resident in the 4100 block of Miller Drive called police at 7:14 p.m. Sept. 7 to report someone stole a 50-foot-long watering hose during the overnight hours. The reported loss is $30.

RECOVERED STOLEN AUTO

An employee in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 8:34 a.m. Sept. 3 a vehicle was parked in the parking lot and did not belong to employees. The vehicle was discovered stolen from Elgin.

TRESPASS

  • An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Tower Drive called police at 11:12 p.m. Sept. 3 to report a customer was disturbing other patrons at the business.

  • An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 10:26 p.m. Sept. 6 a man hiding between delivery trucks.

  • A resident in the 3900 block of Rugen Road called police at 7:51 p.m. Sept. 7 to report someone entered their house without permission.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

An employee of a business in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 6:44 p.m. Sept. 4 someone paid for a car with a check returned for insufficient funds. The reported loss is $80,000.

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road called police at 8:55 p.m. Sept. 4 to report loud noise from a business.

BATTERY

A customer of a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:34 p.m. Sept. 4 being spat on by another customer.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road called police at 11:37 a.m. Sept. 5 to report someone took four bottles of alcohol from a shelf and left the store without paying. The reported loss is $178.

  • An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 1:12 p.m. Sept. 6 a display case was damaged and three Apple I-phones were stolen from inside. The reported loss is $3,600.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

A passerby of a residence in the 2100 block of Tuscany Court called police at 7:40 p.m. Sept. 5 to report lights on inside a vacant residence.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 3800 block of Glenview Road reported at 9:42 p.m. Sept. 5 someone entered their residence and stole clothing. The reported loss is $4,500.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE SUPPORTED PROPERTY

A passerby in the 2600 block of West Lake Avenue called police at 11:03 a.m. Sept. 6 to report wooden planks on the bridge were damaged. The reported loss is $400.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 4:42 p.m. Sept. 7 a patient unhooked medical equipment attached to him, pulled a fire alarm and left the hospital.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 4:52 a.m. Sept. 8 to report an intoxicated patient fought with staff.
