Empowerment workshop for women of color Sept. 21 in Hartford

Women of color will gather at Hartford’s Parkville Market on Wednesday to mingle with successful professionals and get tips on how they can succeed.

The event, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the food hall at 1400 Park St., is sponsored by Parkville Market and the University of Hartford’s Entrepreneurial Center. It is part of the center’s Power & Progress Women’s Business Symposium Series.

A panel discussion, “Pivot: How I Turned Pandemic Challenge into Business Success,” will be moderated by Leslie Mayes of NBC CT. Participants in the panel are Takiya Green of Divine Writing & Consulting Solutions; Shawniel Chamanlal of Healing Springs Wellness Center; Rashi Soni of Thomaston Safety Group; and Dawn Johnson of DHJ Services LLC. The discussion is at 6:30 p.m.

Women-owned popup shops and nonprofit organizations will participate in the gathering. Professional headshots will be offered.

The shops and organizations participating are Anika Nicole Candles, Lilac Collections, Posh Paint, Reef’s Views, Gala Queens, KittyKay Crochet, Girls for Technology, Girl Scouts, AP Femininity, Papye the Paper Shop, WBC Entrepreneurial Center, Girls On the Run and YWCA (voter registration).
