You can enable Facebook dark mode on your iPhone, Android, or computer.
Facebook dark mode allows you to switch the app's background to black instead of white.
Dark mode can save battery life and may even be easier on your eyes, especially at night.
Dark mode is an optional setting that changes the background of an app's interface, like Facebook, from white to black, and text from black to white.
Dark mode consumes less battery on your device because displaying darker pixels on an LED screen uses less power than displaying white ones. Some people also find that it's less straining on the eyes, and many believe that the reduced blue light helps them sleep better, though it's not scientifically proven.
Facebook dark mode
When dark mode first rolled out on the Facebook mobile app, it was only available to some users during beta testing. But dark mode should now be available to all users of the Facebook mobile app for iPhone and Android.
Quick tip: Dark mode is also available on the Facebook Messenger app on all devices, though you'll have to turn it on separately in the Messenger app.
Here's how to enable dark mode on the Facebook website, or on the Facebook mobile app for iPhone or Android.
Enable Facebook dark mode on iPhone or Android
In the Facebook app, tap the hamburger menu, which looks like three horizontal lines.
Scroll down and tap "Settings & Privacy."
In the expanded Settings & Privacy menu, tap "Dark Mode."
On the Dark Mode page, tap the circle next to "On." You can also choose "System" which matches the app's appearance to your device's dark or light system settings.
Enable Facebook dark mode on a computer
Go to Facebook.com and log in. In the top-right corner, select the downward-facing arrow icon.
In the drop-down menu that appears, click "Display & accessibility."
Under "Dark Mode," click the circle next to "On" to enable the feature.
If it's enabled, the toggle will turn blue, and your Facebook background will go dark.
