Disney's Encanto director Jared Bush has been responding to fan questions on Twitter recently, and in doing so he revealed a sad detail about Bruno that you may have missed when watching the film.

During the film, Mirabel goes to Bruno's room and sees artwork depicting how his visions come to life. Part of the display is a sculpture of Bruno with its eyes scratched out, which is pretty creepy.

You might wonder who did this, since a lot of people have a big distrust of Bruno, but one fan enquired if he actually scratched the eyes out himself, and Bush confirmed that hypothesis was indeed the case.

"Yes," Bush replied. "Bruno did that himself."

Although the characters in the film didn't want to talk about Bruno (no, no, no), in the real world people couldn't get enough of the song. It topped the UK Singles Chart for a whopping seven weeks — the first Disney song to do so — and was the UK's biggest song for the first part of the year.

Earlier year this, fellow Encanto director Byron Howard made another revelation about the film that may have passed you by.

Mirabel's character arc in the film focuses on her feeling out of sync with her family, and her song 'Waiting on a Miracle' actually showcases that in quite a subtle way.

"It's not your typical 'I want' song. It's a very angsty confession, something she hasn't shared with anyone – it's completely private when this happens," Howard explained to Empire Magazine.

"There's a Colombian song style called 'bambuco', which is in three-quarter time. It's literally in a different rhythm than every other song in the film."

Encanto is streaming on Disney+ and is also available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download.
