Fifteen-Love's Jessica Darrow has waxed lyrical about shooting her new sports drama across the pond.

The Florida-based actress exclusively told Digital Spy that her past college studies in the UK have a special place in her heart, and the opportunity Fifteen-Love provided her with to travel again meant it was a no-brainer.

"I, you know, got this audition to play a character that at first read, honestly felt very close to myself. So that was already a great sign," began Darrow, who voiced Luisa Madrigal in Disney flick Encanto.

"Also, the fact that it took place in the UK, it made me so happy. So I could have only dreamed to play this part. And I was like, gosh, I hope I can come back to the UK."

The actress added of such a personal gig: "I feel like I've always been manifesting like trying to come back.

"And as an American, it's truly a wonderful opportunity to be able to take a break from the craziness over there and to be in an environment where I feel actors are honestly even held to a higher calibre in terms of like, just really respected.

"The whole idea of like, celebrity culture is like, not as intense here. And it really felt like it was a real job that I had to do. And I was really using my own personal skillset to do something that I've always wanted to do my whole life.

She added: "The fact that [her character Mikki Easton is] queer, and the show isn't about like, it's not about being queer, it's about so many other things. Showing all these different parts of a human being that is fighting for love and justice was something that definitely attracted me to the role."

Also starring Aidan Turner and Ella Lily Hyland, Fifteen-Love centers on a tennis prodigy who makes an earth-shaking allegation against her former coach whom she reached the French Open semi-final with.

Fifteen-Love launches this Friday (July 21) on Prime Video UK and Ireland.
