End of an Era: Letters removed from Paul Brown Stadium day after announcement of new name

It’s the end of era as the letters come down from Paul Brown Stadium and it makes its transition to Paycor Stadium.

Wednesday workers were seen removing the large “Paul Brown Stadium” letters from the stadium just a day after the team announced its new name.

Paycor is a Cincinnati-based company that is a Human Capital Management company that “builds HR software for the leaders and frontline managers everyone depends on,” according to its website. The company has been in Cincinnati for 30 years.

Our news partners at WCPO spoke with fans at the stadium Tuesday to get their reaction to the rebranding.

“I like the original name because they are founded on certain things and I don’t think it should change,” Gabrielle said. She stopped at the stadium during her families road trip from Wisconsin.

WCPO spoke with Bengals owner Mike Brown last month about the name change.

At that time, he said his father would have understand because it’s good for the organization.

“The whole purpose of my working life is to make sure this team successful in this city and believe me I want to keep it that way,” Brown said.

Joe Cobbs, a professor at Northern Kentucky University said people should view this change as a good thing.

“If you are a Hamilton county tax payer you should look at this as good news, because of Hamilton county’s responsibility to maintain and update the stadium as part of their relationship,” Cobbs said.

The team said they would incorporate Paycor into the stadium in the coming months, with the company and the Bengals hosting a ceremony before the season to unveil new branding and celebrate the partnership, the team’s website stated.
