WALLOON LAKE — Hotel Walloon and the national touring company of Keith & Margo’s Murder Mystery Weekend have finalized plans to conduct the first in a series of annual Murder Mystery Weekend events in Walloon Lake and have scheduled the first one for Friday-Sunday, Nov. 4-6.

The weekend of mystery and crime-solving will follow one of mystery writers Keith O’Leary and Margo Morrison's twisting plots. The events will begin with a Friday evening cocktail reception in the Hotel Lobby when guests meet their fellow sleuths along with incognito actors posing as guests. The mystery plays out through the weekend at meal times and finishes on Sunday when the solution is revealed. The three-day, two-night weekend package includes hotel accommodations and amenities, meals, and the Murder Mystery Weekend adventure.

Guests can expect an interesting evening at the Friday reception. Total strangers will meet and mingle for the first time with scheming undercover actors who will do their best to blend in and work covertly committing dastardly deeds while at the same time incriminating some of the real guests.

The mystery continues to develop through breakfast in the Hotel Lobby and lunch provided by Barrel Back Restaurant on Saturday. Guests will have free time to take advantage of the Hotel’s amenities and Village before dinner at Walloon Lake Inn that evening. In the best tradition of mystery noir, shocking events may occur and one might even stumble over a dead body or a major clue along the way. The chances are good that a kindly, perhaps somewhat disheveled, homicide detective will become involved while guiding guests into thinking about motive, means, and opportunity.

By the end of dinner on Saturday night, guests will have all the clues and information they need to crack the case. But just when they think they’ve got it solved; watch out for that final twist!

Breakfast on Sunday morning is when it all comes together. Guests will be asked to write down their best hunch about who did what to whom and why. The final solution will then be played out before their very eyes.
