End of summer fun: All Together Now, Patriot Fest, Yankee Peddler, Browns watch party

Summer is fading away as September hints at cooler temperatures and leaves begin to fall from trees.

There's no shortage of outdoor events and celebrations in Stark County this weekend, though. Most notable is All Together Now from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cultural Center for the Arts just outside downtown Canton at 1001 Market Ave. N.

Entertainment will include a magician, African drumming and dancers, performers on stilts and storytelling. This is the family-friendly event's second year. Food trucks also will be on site.

ArtsinStark said the event will happen rain or shine on the grounds of the Cultural Center. Children's activities include face painting, balloon twisting, make-and-take craft stations and a bubble station.

The summer festival "seeks to inspire a sense of joy, warmth and belonging for everyone attending the free event," ArtsinStark said in a news release.

Headlining the entertainment is magician Rick Smith Jr. of Cleveland, a professional illusionist and card thrower. He's best known for multiple nationally televised performances, as well as for setting world records for throwing a playing card the greatest distance, greatest height and most accurately.

Entertainment also will include Cleveland-based Djapo Cultural Arts Institute, which is led by Talise Campbell, the artistic director and 2022 Ohio Arts Council award winner. Djapo will perform a traditional African drum and dance show complemented with a presentation of art.

The Amazing Giants also will perform on the main stage with circus-style entertainment.

Lindsay Bonilla of World of Difference, a professional storyteller and author, will perform multi-cultural folk tales in a unique and interactive style.

The event is presented by ArtsinStark with support from Visit Canton. TomTod Ideas, specializing in youth development and advocating for middle-school students, is a featured contributor to the event.

"Year after year, this community supports our advocacy, funding and support for the arts," said David Whitehill, president and CEO of ArtsinStark. "Giving back to the community with a free family festival is a fun and engaging way we can say thank you."

Other participating organizations include Artful Living and Learning, Canton Ballet, Canton Museum of Art, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Massillon Musum, SAFY of Akron/Canton, SingStark! and the YMCA.

Guests will have access to the parking deck located onsite. Street parking and surface lots also surround the Cultural Center.
