Endangered turtles rescued from poachers in Bali
STORY: These endangered green sea turtles
were rescued from poachers at sea
Location: Bali, Indonesia
Authorities discovered them
during a routine navy operation
"At the time of the navy operation, the poachers fled into the waters of Sumber Sari or the Cekik area and left behind evidence in the form of 43 live green turtles, two fishing boats with four motors attached."
The species has been on a
significant decline in recent years
due to hunting, loss of beach nesting sites
and getting caught in fishing gear
Wildlife officials will later
release them back into the wild
