Enfield plans vaccination clinic Wednesday

Feb. 26—ENFIELD — The town is once again partnering with the North Central District Health Department to host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 3.

The clinic will take place at the Senior Center, 293 Elm St., and will operate on an appointment-only basis. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Town officials were eager to organize a second clinic after a successful first event, which took place at the Senior Center on Feb. 11. At that time, 152 residents received the first dose of the vaccine, Assistant Town Manager Kasia Purciello said.

"As we were leaving the first one we were already asking when can we do a second one," Purciello said.

Employees of the health department and the town will staff the clinic. Eligible residents can sign up for an appointment online via the state's vaccine administration management system, VAMS, at

Those eligible to register for Wednesday's clinic include healthcare workers listed in phase 1A and residents age 65 or older.

Patrice Sulik, the director of the North Central District Health Department, said being able to partner with towns such as Enfield has made the vaccination process work faster and more smoothly.

"Thanks to our municipal partners in the district's member towns, we have been able to rapidly ramp up our vaccination efforts," Sulik said.

Town Manager Christopher Bromson said the town works closely with the health department, adding that it is even more important to do so for projects like vaccination clinics.

Purciello said the town hopes to hold more vaccination clinics, adding that the biggest determining factors are the availability of health department staff members and having enough vaccine.

More clinics are already being planned, and locations other than the Senior Center are being considered.

"We continue to explore every avenue available to deliver vaccinations to our community," Bromson said.

The health department shares this approach.

"Our goal at the health district is to get this life-saving vaccine to people as quickly and safely as we can," Sulik said.
