New England Track Championships: Wachusett takes second in 800 relay; Westborough's Nguyen shines

Girls' indoor track

New England Championships: Wachusett's Nyah Santana, Kate Larose, Aila Head and Rahma Giwa placed second in the 800 relay (1:45.10) to lead the locals on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Wachusett senior Ashlynn Witt was eighth in the 1,000 (2:58.06) and ran a leg of the 3,200 relay team along with Santana, Giwa and Anna Namiotka that finished seventh (4:05.19).

Tantasqua's Haley McCormack was 10th in the high jump (5-1).

Boys' indoor track

New England Championships: Westborough's Alan Nguyen was fourth in the 55 hurdles (7.75) and seventh in the long jump (21-4.25) to lead the local contingent competing on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Wachusett's Dylan Brenn took sixth in the 1,000 (2:32.23).

Lunenburg's Zach MacLure was eighth in the 600 (1:23.43) and anchored the 1,600 relay team along with Chris Roy, Connor Martin and Tim Smith to sixth (3:28.77).

Parker's Theo Puterbaugh was ninth in the shot put (51-5.50) and Fitchburg's Stephen Bate was 12th in the long jump (21-0.5).

Shrewsbury's 3,200 relay team of William Jiang, Chase Orciuch, Declan Daley and Niko Manolakos took eighth (8:15.39), while Worcester Tech's 800 relay team of Michael Gyimah, Cpyrian Ojatabu, Michael Mireku and Juleein Nicolas placed ninth (1:31.96).
