St. Frances Cabrini School's 75th Anniversary Gala this Thursday will raise money for a new wing of classrooms.

The gala is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. at the Lagniappe Theatre Events Center, 7521 Coliseum Blvd., in Alexandria.

The event includes dinner, dancing and entertainment, with proceeds to help the school complete its Early Childhood Wing.

People attending will help create a mosaic by gluing down as many tiles as they want. The art piece will eventually be hung in the school.

A silent auction will include repurposed kneelers from the old Cabrini Church that have scenes painted by local artists. Amber Voorhies painted horses, and the school’s curriculum director, Kim Ashy, painted the Virgin Mary.

A live auction will include a five-course meal for eight, valued at $1,200, by Chef John Foster Gunter at Word of Mouth Café in downtown Alexandria. Other live auction items are a four-person, 18-hole golf package, horseback riding lessons, a stone firepit and a real fur coat.

Tamera Zona, the school’s music teacher and one of the gala’s organizers, said during dinner, Ross Schexnayder, artistic director and co-owner of the events center, will host a religious trivia game on stage. Afterward, a band with Jason Ashley will provide live music.

Tickets are $75 each, $150 for couples and $500 for a table of eight. They can be purchased at eventbrite.com or by calling the school at (318) 448-3333. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
