Enjoy a 'Goodnight Under the Stars' with Armstrong County Museum's fundraiser Saturday

Armstrong County Museum is hosting its annual "Goodnight Under the Stars" fundraiser. This years event will be Saturday, from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch, located at 4989 Co Rd 25, in Claude, Texas.

The event includes a Texas Wine Walk where multiple wineries will be showcasing their Texas wines, including a event specific label, live music, a tour of the Goodnight Ranch and art exhibits. A steak dinner will be provided at 6 p.m. prepared by the Khiva Muleskinners, followed by a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind prizes including paintings, guns and gift baskets. The night ends with a Dance Under the Stars to live music provided by Jody Nix.

"For many years, the community has supported the Armstrong County Museum with this event that has allowed us to share the heritage of our community," said Jodie Stockett, ACM board member. "With it being held out at the Goodnight Ranch, it gives us the chance to show off the importance of the cattle industry and just the history of our county. It gives people the chance to step back in time and show them what we are working to preserve."

According to ACM board member Twila Baldwin, the event has been held since 2015 to benefit the museum, with everything from general maintenance fees to production of several new exhibits. Last year, the event raised $30,000 for the museum. This year, the board members are looking forward to a crowd of approximately 500 to celebrate with.

"This is just a wonderful event. Of course, that is the original house that Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight built, and it is the perfect setting out on the prairie. Everyone just loves to go out there every year, relax and have a good time while supporting our cause," Baldwin said.

Individual tickets are $100 and can be purchased at www.panhandletickets.com. Attendees can also purchase a table for 8 for $1000, which includes a complementary bottle of wine by calling (806) 681-3713.
