Florist Amy Cilmi of Amy's Flowers creates an arrangement Sept. 21 at Hayfields Cafe and Florals, a community hub in North Salem. The local market offers food, flowers and gifts, and hosts weekend gatherings for families and car enthusiasts.
The Balanced Rock, a historic landmark in North Salem, stands on Titicus Road. The estimated 60-ton granite boulder sits on five smaller rocks. Some think it was deposited here during the glacial period, and some think it may be a dolmen, or tomb, memorializing the dead.

The museum and garden, open April to November, was founded in 1957 by Natalie Hays Hammond as a place where Eastern and Western cultures meet.

The family owned and operated farm also offers apple picking, hayrides, burgers, pizza, their own Hardscrabble Cider, apple cider donuts and more during the season.
