Enjoy a taste of summer at the Bucks County Wine Trail's summer events

If you love wine and food, then the Bucks County Wine Trail’s Summer Sip & Savor food and wine pairing events are for you. Guests can sip their way to fun with expertly chosen and locally made wine paired with carefully chosen gourmet appetizers.

Next month, the Wine Trail will host it's second annual Summer Sip & Savor, inviting guests to explore its seven separate but tight-knit, family-owned wineries, and one cidery in Bucks County that offer various hard ciders, wines, and appetizers. The event on Aug. 6 features four locations. The events on Aug. 13 features three locations.

This event "helps pair wine with meals which is really good for wine tasting because it changes the flavor of the wine, so if you put it with a meal it's actually better," said Sand Castle Winery's tasting room manger Sam Tiedeken.

The Bucks County Wine Trail was incorporated as a nonprofit in 2004 with the goal of promoting Bucks County's wines and wineries.

At the Crossing Vineyards and Winery, Tom Carroll Sr. explained he and his late wife Christine Carroll followed their son's dream to open a winery.

He said that they live at the winery and the best compliment they get is when people say they feel at home there. He replies with the same response every time — "Welcome to my home."

Christine Carroll played a huge part in the winery and "even though she is in heaven now her footprints are all over the place," Carroll said.

What's new on the Wine Trail event?

The Bucks County Wine Trail is adding Manoff Market Cidery, the only cidery in Bucks County, to the Sip & Savor lineup this year. They provide a variety of ciders such as Pink Lady, Stayman, and Goldrush that are grown, harvested, and pressed right there.

Amy Manoff at Manoff Market Cidery felt like the cidery was a good fit for the Bucks County wine trail because people had mistook their ciders for wine in the past. "We are very excited for the menu and for new faces," said Manoff. "We are looking forward to doing some pairings."

A sneak peek at the menu

Guests can enjoy sweet NJ corn soufflé, kimchi deviled egg, marinated local tomato & melon salad, and Vietnamese pork meatballs at Manoff Market Cidery. Their cider pairings are still to be determined.

Sand Castle Winery will give guests the choice of multiple splendid pairings. Guests can taste roasted sweet potato wedges paired with Sand Castle Pinot Noir, buffalo chicken sliders paired with Sand Castle Semi-sweet Riesling, and petite key lime tart paired with Sand Castle White Port.

Crossing Vineyards and Winery will have cilantro lime shrimp tartlet with mango salsa, spicy Korean beef and cucumber canape, watermelon feta panzanella skewers. The wine pairings are secret for now, a surprise for guests. They will also have a special dessert pairing that will include a "chocolate truffle with our super-duper wine that we call a chocolate cherry truffle," said Carroll.

The menu may be updated on the website as the wineries make their decision on unique pairing options to try.
