Entangled eagles were locked by their wings and talons in lake, Minnesota cops say
Deputies in Minnesota freed two eagles who became entangled with one another in a lake, authorities said.
It’s believed the eagles were fighting with one another midair when they crashed into Leech Lake in Shingobee Bay on July 3, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Water patrol units then encountered what they called “a unique situation.” The eagles were locked by their wings and talons, and they were struggling to stay afloat.
The sheriff’s office said deputies helped free the eagles.
“The eagles made their way to shore and recovered for some time before finding a higher spot to fly away from the area,” the sheriff’s office said.
Leech Lake is around 200 miles north of Minneapolis.
