The Enterprise rolling out new comics page: Here's what you will get

When I was a little girl, long before I developed a passion for the news pages in a newspaper, I was a diehard comics fan.

I delighted in Garfield’s acerbic wit and adorable smugness and Charlie Brown’s philosophical disposition in the face of a comically relentless series of disappointments and mishaps. I clipped my favorites, forever on the lookout for a good joke to share, not to mention a cheerful reminder to always try to keep my sense of humor, to remember that even though there is darkness in life — and we journalists certainly come face to face with our fair share of it — so too there is light.

So, I understand that the characters in "the funny pages," as I always called them, can feel like old friends.

Maybe, you're the same way. Do you pick up your Enterprise most mornings, or log into your eNewspaper, and immediately go to the comics section to start your day off with a little comic relief?

If you do, you're not alone.

Comics have been a mainstay in newspapers and that isn't changing. But the media business has always been about evolution, and change is coming to your daily comics page beginning Sunday, Oct. 2.

Comics are popular ― we understand that. And hopefully, if one of your favorites is going away, you can find a new one to bring you joy or at least a good chuckle every now and then.

Even more offerings will be available to our digital subscribers at enterprisenews.com/comics.

Also, it's important to note your subscription price is not affected by the change. Delivering the highest quality product to our subscribers is always our first priority. This change allows us to further invest in the local journalism on which our readers rely.
