EPCSO to host annual Deputy Herrera 5K Memorial Run

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the fourth annual Deputy Peter John Herrera 5K Memorial Run/walk Sunday, March 24 at Ascarate Park.

The check-in will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. and the race starting at 8 a.m.

Registration prices is as it follows:

  • Early registration: $25 per person, running from Jan. 22 to March 11.

  • Late registration: $35 per person, running from March 12 to March 23.

  • Race day registration: $40 per person at the day of the event.

Additionally, registration includes a goody bag and a race t-shirt.

Gold Badge Sponsorship

  • Price: $1,000

  • Two teams in the race (total of five members per team).

  • Special sponsor signage on the race path (yard sign).

  • Recognition banner as Special Gold Badge Sponsor at Memorial Run.

Silver Badge Sponsorship

  • Price: $500

  • One team in the race (total of five members per team).

  • Special sponsor signage on the race path (yard sign).

  • Recognition as a Silver Badge Sponsor at Memorial Run.

Bronze Badge Sponsorship

  • Price: $100

  • Special sponsor signage on the race path (yard sign).

Herrera was killed after being shot during a traffic stop in San Elizario back in 2019. All proceeds to benefit Herrera’s scholarship fund, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
