EPPING — Epping High School has announced the Latin Honor Students in its Class of 2022. A commencement ceremony will be held Friday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at the high school. The following students are graduating Summa Cum Laude and listed alphabetically:

Melissa Rose Daigle

Melissa Rose Daigle
Melissa Rose Daigle

Melissa Rose Daigle, daughter of Todd and Leslie Daigle, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as a NH Scholar with a distinction in Arts. In her time at Epping High School, Melissa was a member of the French Club, the French National Honor Society, Secretary of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Student Leadership Council. She has also been an employee at Market Basket throughout all four years of high school. With an impressive academic record, Melissa has received the Mount Holyoke College Book Award, the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence in both eleventh and twelfth grade, and she was the recipient of the Advanced French Award in twelfth grade for outstanding achievement in the Honors French V class. In the fall, Melissa will attend Southern New Hampshire University with a major in Justice Studies with a concentration in Police Operations.

Trey Alan Finkelstein, son of Scott and Colleen Finkelstein, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as a NH Scholar with a distinction in the Arts. Trey has received numerous accolades for his excellence in music, including earning the top score for trumpets at the All-State Jazz Band in 2020, 2021, and 2022, he earned the top score for trumpets at the 2020 All-State Classical Festival, he also received the MVP Award and the award for Outstanding Musicianship at the Clark Terry Jazz Festival. For his achievements in music and academics, Trey was the recipient of the 2021 Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award. He also received the EHS Louis Armstrong Jazz Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022. The NH Music Educators Association selected Trey to receive the 2022 Philip K. Martin Scholarship for students intending to study music education in college. Trey will be majoring in Music Education at the University of New Hampshire in the fall.

Jade Gagnon, daughter of Simeon and Sally Gagnon, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as NH Scholar with a distinction in STEAM. Jade has been a standout student leader, serving as the class president for all four years of high school and also as the Vice President of the National Honor Society. Jade was also a leader on the playing field; for her excellence in athletics and academics, she was awarded the William Loeb Scholar Athlete Award in 2022. Jade captained the varsity soccer team from her sophomore through senior year and was named to the Granite State All-Conference team. She was a four-year varsity player on the EHS softball team, and a three-year varsity player on the EHS basketball team. Additionally, Jade was a member of the Science Olympiad Team and she has worked at the public library in town as a librarian assistant throughout high school. Jade was the recipient of the 2021 Harvard University Prize Book Award, she received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, the US Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award, the 2022 EHS Sportsmanship Award and the Spirit and Involvement Award, as well as the John Philip Sousa Band Award. In the fall, Jade will attend the University of New Hampshire as a Hamel Scholar

Catherine McTague, daughter of Charles and Shana McTague, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as a NH Scholar with a distinction in STEAM. Catherine was the recipient of the EHS Senior Math Award, the EHS Senior Science Award, the US Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award for musical excellence, and in 2021, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medalist Award. Catherine served as the Senior Patrol Leader for the Scouts BSA Troop 136. Through Scouts, Catherine earned many honors, including: Eagle Scout in 2020, Vigil Honors in 2021, and the Founders Award in 2021. At Epping High School, Catherine was the Vice President of the French National Honor Society, the President of the Math Team, and the President of PRISM. Additionally, Catherine was a member of the Mendums Seacoast Sailing Team out of UNH. An avid math and science student, Catherine will continue her education journey at Worcester Polytechnic University with a major in Chemical Engineering.

Michael Picard III, son of Michael and Amy Picard, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as a NH Scholar. Michael was a standout student-athlete in his four years at Epping High School. He was a five-year varsity player on the soccer team and served as team captain for three years. He earned First Team All-State honors in 2020 and 2021. Also in 2021, he was named the New Hampshire Soccer Coaches Organization Player of the Year. Michael also played four years of varsity basketball and was team captain for two years and he was named to the Second Team All-State in 2022. He received the EHS Top Male Athlete Award in 2022 as well as the NHIAA Scholar Athlete Award. Michael was inducted into the National Honor Society in his sophomore year and currently serves as the President of NHS. He was also a four-year Student Government Class Representative. In 2021 he received the St. Anselm College Book award and the U.S. Marine Corps Outstanding Athlete Award. In the fall, Michael will attend Bentley University to study Finance.

Haley Williamson, daughter of Jodi Williamson and Jerry Hannon, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as a NH Scholar with a distinction in STEAM. Haley has held many leadership positions in her four years at Epping. She is the Secretary of the Class of 2022, the National Honor Society Treasurer, and the President of the French National Honor Society. Haley recently earned her Certificate of Completion for the Seacoast School of Technology in the Animal and Plant Science program. Through the SST Chapter of the FFA, Haley served as the Parliamentarian and she earned the Chapter FFA Degree. In 2021 Haley received the Brown University Book Award and in 2022 she received the US Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award as well as the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. Haley will attend St. Anselm College in the fall with a major in Environmental Science.

Morgan Taylor Witmer, daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Witmer, is graduating Summa Cum Laude and also as a NH Scholar. Morgan was a member of the Varsity Spirit team in 2018 and 2019. She has worked a part-time job at Market Basket throughout three years of high school and currently holds a part-time job at the Tuckaway Tavern in Raymond. Morgan has volunteered her time at a community outreach center where she has sorted and organized clothing for the homeless. In 2021 Morgan received the Society of Women Engineers Award and in 2021 and 2022 she received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. Morgan will be completing an LNA training program and working in the nursing field prior to entering college to earn a degree in Registered Nursing.
