How ‘The Equalizer’ killed off Chris Noth after sexual assault allegations

Almost four months after Chris Noth was fired from “The Equalizer” over multiple allegations of sexual assault, his character finally suffered an unsanctimonious goodbye.

In Sunday night’s episode of the CBS procedural, Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) realizes that her mentor, William Bishop (Noth), has spent the last few months hunting for an explanation for why a plane went down, only to discover that the man behind the crash is her nemesis Mason Quinn (Chris Vance).

As McCall races to stop Quinn from setting off another electromagnetic pulse and knocking another plane out of the sky, she finds that she is too late and is instead forced to watch as Bishop’s plane goes down, seemingly killing everyone on board.

“This is the second time you’ve gotten in my way,” Quinn tells McCall from Bishop’s phone. “Don’t come after me because then I’ll have to come after you.”

Bishop’s death seemed inevitable after CBS announced in December that Noth had been fired from the show. The actor had not appeared on camera for the six episodes that have aired since then.

Shortly after the premiere of “And Just Like That,” the “Sex and the City” reboot that starred Noth as Mr. Big, two women told the Hollywood Reporter that Noth had raped them, one in Los Angeles in 2004 and the other in New York in 2015. A third woman told the Daily Beast that Noth digitally penetrated her without her consent in 2010 when she was just 18. A fourth claimed he groped her at her New York apartment in 2002, then threatened to ruin her singing career if she told anyone.

Noth has denied all allegations of misconduct.

In January, Latifah publicly supported Noth’s firing, but called the allegations a “dicey situation.”

“My feeling is justice has to prevail regardless,” she told “People (the TV Show!).” “I just want the right things to be done, you know?”
