Eric Bieniemy Arizona Cardinals' speculation: Coordinator candidate, but not head coach?
- Oops!Something went wrong.Please try again later.
Eric Bieniemy has now helped the Kansas City Chiefs win two Super Bowls in four seasons as the team's offensive coordinator.
Could he be on the move from the organization? And could the Arizona Cardinals be a possible next team?
Speculation surrounding Bieniemy started swirling before Super Bowl 57 on Sunday in Arizona, when his agent, Jason Fletcher, told Pro Football Talk that the offensive coordinator had an "outside shot" at the head coaching position for the Indianapolis Colts.
Then, the agent told PFT that Bieniemy had other options for next season, listing the Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Commanders and Arizona Cardinals' offensive coordinator jobs as possibilities for his client, with Arizona's job "depending on who is hired."
'Top candidate':Jonathan Gannon Arizona Cardinals coach speculation swirls after report
VOTE: Should the #Chiefs' Eric Bieniemy be a candidate to be the head coach the #AZCardinals? (Social media sounds off on #ChiefsKingdom offensive coordinator's omission from search: https://t.co/O7ficuDW16) @azcentral #BirdCityFootball

Bieniemy has been passed up for several NFL coaching jobs, and PFT's Mike Florio wrote that "maybe Bieniemy will have to work magic with another offense before owners finally realize that he deserves a chance."
Many writers and NFL fans on social media, however, had different ideas for Bieniemy.
They called for the Cardinals to hire him as their head coach, not as their offensive coordinator after the Chiefs' 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57.

New York Giants coach Mike Kafka, who previously worked under Bieniemy in Kansas City as quarterbacks coach in Kansas City, Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon are believed to be the finalist for the Cardinals' head coaching job.
Bieniemy hasn't interviewed for the position, a fact that didn't sit well with many on social media.

Social media sounded off on Eric Bieniemy and the Arizona Cardinals coaching job:
Eric Bieniemy should be the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals before Jonathan Gannon is.

People are hilarious. This tweet was constructed to show that Eric Bieniemy, who isn’t on the Arizona HC radar, should be hired before the person who is at the top of the list for HC for the Cardinals currently.
Gannon’s defense got blown up tonight. What more needs to be said? https://t.co/rACrmBDtzZ— Alex Clancy (@ClancysCorner) February 13, 2023
If I'm the Arizona Cardinals, I DO NOT let Eric Bieniemy leave town without interviewing for their Head Coaching Vacancy! IF I'm a #Colts fan, I'm irate they are hiring the losing OC of the Super Bowl over the OC that has now won 2 SB's in 4 years. Irsay is making a big mistake!

The Cardinals considering Kafka a HC candidate while only considering Bieniemy a coordinator candidate is something we have to talk about

The Arizona Cardinals should not let Eric Bieniemy leave the building. Hire him as your new Head Coach.
A no brainer.— TheOGfantasyfootball (@TheOGfantasy) February 13, 2023
Congratulations to the Chiefs! Time for Eric Bieniemy to be named head coach of the Cardinals. #SuperBowl

Why aren't the Cardinals interviewing Bieniemy? Or any of these teams for that matter?

So is it too in the moment to say Eric Bieniemy to Arizona Cardinals? I mean he might as well just stay here…

If the Arizona Cardinals were smart they would hire Eric Bieniemy Like ASAP! He's the perfect coach for Kyler Murray and he would bring a dynamic offense to the Arizona Cardinals!

If we're being honest...... Eric Bieniemy should be the Cardinals next Head Coach.

Would love for the Cardinals to interview Eric Bieniemy for the head coach position. Much rather go offensive for head coach than defensive

Cardinals gotta hire Eric Bieniemy.

Hey Arizona Cardinals… y’all better hire Eric Bieniemy

Also, the Cardinals still have a head-coaching vacancy. After seeing what Eric Bieniemy helped orchestrate on their field tonight, they should hire him for the job. He's long-deserving of the opportunity to be a head coach.
