Eric Clapton will make his first Detroit visit in 12 years when he headlines Little Caesars Arena on Sept. 10.

The veteran British rock guitarist, who turned 77 in March, has announced a five-city September run that will wrap with a pair of shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. Texas bluesman Jimmie Vaughan will open all dates.

Tickets for Clapton's LCA show will go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster.

The downtown Detroit show will be Clapton's first in the area since a performance at DTE Energy Music Theatre in July 2010. For his September shows, he'll be joined onstage by guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, vocalist Paul Carrack, bassist Nathan East, drummer Sonny Emory and keyboardist Chris Stainton, along with backing singers Sharon White and Katie Kissoon.
