Erie County high school sports Top Performers for Sept. 12-17

Football

Skylar Olmstead, Union City: His two touchdown runs, including a 91-yarder in the third quarter, highlighted the Bears' 29-8 victory at Iroquois.

Nolan Carey, Corry: Three of his eight completions as the Beavers' quarterback resulted in touchdowns during their 20-7 victory against the visiting Harbor Creek Huskies.

Stephen Grayson, Mercyhurst Prep: He recorded an interception, plus the 10-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter that was was the difference for the Lakers when they beat Northwestern 21-14 at Saxon Stadium.

Cole Constable, Cathedral Prep: His field goals of 50 and 47 yards early in the Ramblers' 49-14 win over Solon (Ohio) were the 18th and 19th of his varsity career, a new team record.

Conner McChesney, Fort LeBoeuf: The quarterback's 25-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, one in which he ran through four Fairview defenders, clinched a 21-7 road victory for the Bison.

Ben Moore, McDowell: The quarterback was efficient through the air (13-of-18 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns) and on the ground (52 yards and one score) during the Trojans' 52-14 Region 6 win over Erie High.

Dylan Sheeder, General McLane: The Lancers quarterback recorded 237 yards in total offense and a touchdown pass when they beat North East 21-6 at Linden Field.

Boys soccer

Andy Jones, Girard: He was responsible for three of the YellowJackets' goals during their 6-0 victory vs. the visiting Titusville Rockets.

Mike McGuigan, North East: His massive scoring performance for the Grapepickers (five goals and one assist) highlighted their 8-0 shutout of the Conneaut Eagles.

Adam Dahl, Mercyhurst Prep: He scored twice when the Lakers defeated Mercer 5-1.

Luis Corrales, McDowell: He recorded two goals and two assists in the first half of the Trojans' 5-0 victory against Ohio's Grand River Academy.

Sam Parente, Harbor Creek: He was the hero of the Huskies' dramatic 4-3 victory over Mercyhurst Prep with his goal in double overtime.

Cooper Robson, General McLane: His hat trick and assist were significant to the Lancers' 7-0 road victory vs. Fort LeBoeuf.

Reece Kordes, North East: The goalkeeper for the Grapepickers was in net for their 2-0 victory at Girard. ... He also made the team's first-half score hold up for a 1-0 victory vs. the formerly-undefeated General McLane Lancers.

Ben Burkhardt, Iroquois: The goalkeeper for the Braves was responsible for their half of a scoreless match with Titusville.

Devin Graham, Corry: The senior tied the team record with six goals in one match when the Beavers blanked Oil City 8-0.

Girls soccer

Ave Pushchak, Seneca: She was the hero of the Bobcats' 1-0 victory against North East with her overtime goal.

Eden Palkovic, Erie High: Her goal in the second half was the only one scored when the Royals won 1-0 at Girard. ... She also scored four goals en route to their 8-0 victory vs. Iroquois earlier in the week.

Sydney Rotko, General McLane: She helped account for more than half of the Lancers' offense (four goals and two assists) when they routed Mercer 11-1.

Jenna Popowski, Fort LeBoeuf: The Bison improved to 4-0-1 with help from the hat trick she recorded during their 6-0 shutout of Mercyhurst Prep.

Peyton Koma, Girard: Her hat trick comprised the brunt of the goals when the YellowJackets blanked Maplewood 4-0. ... Not satisfied with a goal and two assists, she also shared time as the goalkeeper when they dominated Iroquois 8-0.

Elise Cacchione, Fort LeBoeuf: She recorded two goals and assisted on a third when the Bison beat Mercer 6-0.

Vivian Sanders, McDowell: She was in goal for the Trojans when they shut out Harbor Creek 3-0.

Evelyn Bish, North East: Her hat trick and single assist highlighted the Grapepickers' 9-1 victory vs. Sharon.

Olivia Dixon, Cathedral Prep: She scored four goals and assisted on two others for the Ramblers, who defeated Warren 7-4.

Lexa Maloney, Harbor Creek: Her goal and three assists contributed to the Huskies' 8-0 shutout of Conneaut.

Breckin Taylor, Cathedral Prep: The junior, at 1-under par 71, was the individual leader after Saturday's opening round of the Midwest Prep Classic at The Country Club of Meadville. .... His round of 2-under par 69 was the lowest for a Region 6 mega-match at West Middlesex's Oak Tree Golf Club, where the Ramblers clinched the region championship. ... He also began this week with a 74 for a region mega-match at Meadville.

Braeden Means, General McLane: He shot an 80, which was the lowest for a Region 5 mega-match the Lancers also won at Culbertson Hills Golf Resort.

Jacob Bender, Seneca: His nine-hole score of 44 was the lowest for a dual between the Bobcats and Erie High at Beechwood Golf Course.

Dominic Fracassi, Erie High: The Royals' 200-211 dual victory over Seneca at Beechwood Golf Course included his nine-hole round of 45.

Greysen Rhodes, General McLane: His 4-over par 76, which included an ace on Beechwood Golf Course's 10th hole, was the lowest round for a Region 5 mega-match.

Will Fessler, Fairview: His round of 6-over par 78 for a mega-match at Beechwood Golf Course helped the Tigers clinch first place in Region 5's standings.

Girls golf

Anna Swan, North East: The former PIAA team gold medalist was the individual medalist (37) for a Region 2 mega-match held at Whispering Woods Golf Course. ... She also recorded the low round of 38 for a region mega-match at Union City Country Club.

Katie Caryl, Mercyhurst Prep: Her nine-hole round of 42 was the lowest for the Lakers when they finished first in the team standings for a Region 2 mega-match at Whispering Woods Golf Course. ... Her 45 also was best for the Lakers when they finished first for a region mega-match at Union City Country Club.

Elizabeth D'Andrea, Erie High: She was the nine-hole medalist (40) for a Region 3 mega-match at The Country Club of Meadville.

Brooke Hamilton, McDowell: The Trojans' No. 4 starter posted their low nine-hole round of 43 when they won a Region 3 mega-match at The Country Club of Meadville.

Girls tennis

Anne Marie Prichard, Cathedral Prep: Her straight-sets victory as the Ramblers' No. 2 singles starter contributed to their 4-1 non-region dual win at Ohio's Western Reserve Academy.

Sophia Glance, Cathedral Prep: She rallied for a 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 singles match during the Ramblers' 5-0 dual win over Warren. ... Her singles win also was the difference when they edged the visiting Fairview Tigers 3-2.

Nabiah Bhatti, McDowell: Her straight-sets win as the Trojans' No. 1 singles starter was part of their 4-1 victory against Erie High.

Vivian Liu, Fairview: The freshman, as the Tigers' No. 1 singles starter, contributed to their 5-0 dual win over the rival Mercyhurst Prep Lakers.

Trinity Fox, Fairview: District 10's reigning Class 3A titlist won her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 during the Tigers' 5-0 victory vs. Ashtabula (Ohio) Edgewood.

Enisa Siljkovic, Erie High: Her straight-sets victory in the No. 1 singles match helped the Royals win 3-2 at Sharon.

Girls volleyball

Michayla Magee, Union City: She led the Bears in kills (nine) and assists (16) when they swept Erie High.

Grace Sanfilippo, North East: She totaled 46 assists from the Grapepickers' backcourt when they beat McDowell in four sets.

Elaine Corwin, General McLane: She had a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs during the Lancers' four-set win over Fairview.

Ashlynn Rictor, Girard: She led the YellowJackets with nine kills and also contributed 12 digs during their five-set win over the rival Northwestern Wildcats.

Macy Testa, McDowell: She had a mammoth kill total of 30, plus five aces, when the Trojans beat Northwestern in four sets.

Cecelia Campbell, Cathedral Prep: Her 27 assists from the Ramblers' backcourt helped them beat Fairview for the school's first victory in the sport.

Katelynn Olmstead, Fort LeBoeuf: The outside hitter for the Bison finished with eight kills, five digs and four aces when they beat Erie High in three sets.

Ava Guzowski, Seneca: The Bobcats, with help from her five kills and five digs, improved to 3-0 with their three-set sweep of Union City.

Boys cross country

Ben Schrumpf, Fort LeBoeuf: He was the individual winner for a dual between the Bison and General McLane.

Luke Brown, Cathedral Prep: The Ramblers beat Meadville in a Region 6 dual thanks to his first-place time of 16 minutes, 46 seconds.

Kamden Kramer, McDowell: He set the Frontier Park course record (16:05) during a Region 6 dual between the Trojans and Erie High.

Ryan Kelly, Mercyhurst Prep: He was first (17:12) for a dual between the Lakers and Northwestern.

Girls cross country

Sydney Bayle, General McLane: She finished first for a dual between the Lancers and Fort LeBoeuf.

Grace Faulkner, McDowell: She was timed at 22 minutes, 7 seconds, the fastest for the Trojans' dual vs. Erie High at Frontier Park.

Sarah Clark, Cathedral Prep: She finished first (19:48) when the Ramblers beat Meadville 18-45 in the teams' Region 6 dual.

Addison Pettis, Northwestern: She finished first with a time of 19:18 for a dual between the Wildcats at Mercyhurst Prep.

Boys water polo

Aidan Levis, Cathedral Prep: He scored 10 times for the Ramblers during their appearance in the Screamin' Eagle Tournament at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg.

Girls water polo

Emily Consiglio, Cathedral Prep: Her 11 goals were the most for the Ramblers during their appearance in Cumberland Valley's Screamin' Eagle Tournament.

Claire Gebhardt, McDowell: Her nine goals personally outscored Fairview when the Trojans defeated the Tigers 12-6.
