Leading scorers and more: Erie County high school Top Performers for Dec. 30-Jan. 7

District 10 athletes put up impressive performances the past week in winter sports.

Here are some of those top efforts:

Boys basketball

Archie Murphey, Fairview: The Tigers routed Iroquois 62-26 in part because of his 17 points.

Alex Henry, Girard: He scored 19 points for the YellowJackets, who defeated Erie First Christian 58-40. ... His 14-point performance also was part of their earlier 63-20 win against Maplewood.

Nick Krahe, Harbor Creek: His latest double-double for the Huskies was a robust 31-point, 15-rebound performance during their 67-45 victory over Fort LeBoeuf.

Noah Crozier, North East: The standout for the Grapepickers scored 18 points when they beat Northwestern 50-28.

Kamden Kramer, McDowell: He recorded 13 points for the Trojans during their 62-51 win over Erie High. ... Earlier in the week, the Trojans topped General McLane 71-44 with his significant 21-point contribution.

Logan Kibbe, Seneca: His 24 points accounted for more than half of the Bobcats' output when they beat Mercyhurst Prep 44-40. ... He also scored 19 points during the Bobcats' 60-49 victory vs. Fairview.

Logan Anderson, General McLane: His scoring prowess from long distance (seven 3-pointers) comprised the brunt of his 24 overall when the Lancers won 74-45 at Titusville.

Geremia Dell'Omo, Girard: The YellowJackets, with help from his 19 points, defeated North East 67-46.

Jake Sambuchino, Cathedral Prep: He recorded 24 points for the Ramblers when they beat Erie High 61-52.

Jesse Jong, Erie First Christian: His team-high 19 points were part of the Eagles' 72-43 victory vs. Iroquois.

Derek Bly, Mercyhurst Prep: His 12 points were part of the Lakers' 63-39 win over Northwestern.

Braylen Wilson, Harbor Creek: He totaled 18 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies, who defeated Corry 66-49.

Jacob Zietz, General McLane: He scored 14 points for the Lancers when they beat Conneaut (Pennsylvania) 72-46 in the championship game of the Eagles' holiday tournament.

Girls basketball

Kayla Forsythe, North East: She had 11 points for the Grapepickers during their low-scoring 36-24 victory vs. Fort LeBoeuf.

Mallory Hammill, Seneca: She personally surpassed Girard's collective points with the 14 she scored during the Bobcats' 57-12 victory vs. the YellowJackets.

Makayla Presser-Palmer, Northwestern: The freshman continued to impress with 16 points for the Wildcats, who routed Titusville 56-15.

Aubrey Neavins, Erie High: She scored 21 points for the Royals during their 63-25 victory vs. Fort LeBoeuf. ... It was during the holiday week that also helped them win Conneaut's tournament as its most valuable player award recipient.

Hope Garrity, Fairview: The star of the Tigers scored 20 points when they won 51-16 over General McLane.

Olivia Kulyk, Mercyhurst Prep: Her 25 points personally outscored Iroquois when the Lakers beat the Braves 69-14.

Jessica Hetz, McDowell: The Trojans needed all 17 of her points en route to a dramatic 46-44 win over Harbor Creek.

Lilyauna Triana, North East: Her mammoth 26-point effort helped the Grapepickers beat Eisenhower 65-38.

Bre Heidt, Fairview: The Tigers' 54-17 victory over Union City in non-region action included her 14-point effort.

Boys swimming

Jacob Carstater, Girard: He was a four-time winner for the YellowJackets when they beat Harbor Creek 68-44.

Mason Currier, North East: He was a four-time victor for the Grapepickers during their 64-10 dual win against Iroquois.

Mitchell Myers, Fairview: The senior was a four-time winner when the Tigers beat Union City 123-44.

Jerrick Hunter, Union City: He anchored the Bears' top 400-yard freestyle relay to a first-place finish, which was the difference in the team's 83-82 dual victory vs. Corry.

Girls swimming

Paige Gorey, Harbor Creek: She anchored the Huskies' 400-yard freestyle relay for the last of her four personal wins during the team's 101-62 dual victory vs. Girard.

Anna Riedel, North East: She won the 100-yard butterfly and anchored the Grapepickers' first-place 200 freestyle relay when they edged Iroquois 86-83.

Annastasia Walker, Fairview: She anchored two of the Tigers' relays to victories and won three events overall during their 118-50 defeat of Union City.

Mahra Goodwill, Corry: The freshman was a four-time victor when the Beavers defeated the rival Union City Bears 101-58.

Wrestling

Story Buchanan, Girard: The 152-pounder was voted the Tool City Tournament's outstanding wrestler for recording a 40-second pin, two technical falls and an upset of the division's top seed in their championship match.

Ryan Miller, Seneca: The Bobcats' star athlete won the 189 weight class at Meadville's Tool City Tournament.

Max Spaulding, Cathedral Prep: The Ramblers' 215-pounder won his weight class during their appearance at the Pin City Tournament in Perry, Ohio.

Cyrus Hurd, North East: He was voted the outstanding wrestler for the Ripley (New York) Invitational as its 126 gold medalist.

Hunter Chew, Harbor Creek: He was the 102 winner of the Ripley Invitational.

Kyle Cousins, General McLane: The 152-pounder recorded a pin and a 15-0 technical fall during the Lancers' Takedown Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser duals vs. Hickory and Brookville.

Conner McChesney, Fort LeBoeuf: The 172-pounder's pin began a decisive run of four straight match victories for the Bison when they beat North East 41-23.

Owen Shetler, Cathedral Prep: His pin in the 172-pound match gave the Ramblers an insurmountable lead when they beat the rival McDowell Trojans 43-24 at Joanne Mullen Gymnasium.

Greg Gruda, Northwestern: The 215-pounder recorded a critical pin for the Wildcats when they edged Harbor Creek 33-30.

Cody Proper, Corry: His 48-second fall in the 139-pound match opened the Beavers' 56-15 dual victory over the rival Union City Bears.

Girls bowling

Taylor Kretz, McDowell: The recent Metro League record-setter began the new year with a 264 game during her 682 series when the Trojans beat Mercyhurst Prep 21-7 at Rolling Meadow Lanes.

Elena Kacprowicz, Cathedral Prep: Her 529 series helped the Ramblers beat Erie High 16½-11½ in the teams' 2023 Metro League opener.

Boys indoor track and field

Luke Brown, Cathedral Prep: The George Mason University recruit won the 800-meter final (2 minutes, 1.10 seconds) during a Northeast Ohio Indoor Track Conference meet at the S.P.I.R.E. Institute.

Girls indoor track and field

Lauren Raimy, Cathedral Prep: Her individual victory in the 800 meters (2 minutes, 25.46 seconds) was one of three she recorded for the Ramblers during their appearance at a Northeast Ohio Indoor Track Conference meet at the S.P.I.R.E Institute.

Hockey

Braeden Martin, McDowell: He scored twice and assisted on two other goals when the Trojans opened the new year with a 6-4 victory vs. Avonworth at Erie Bank Sports Park.

Mathius Sprickman, Cathedral Prep: He scored twice when the Ramblers tripled up Canon-McMillan 6-2.
