The Erie Express were champions of the 2021 Gridiron Developmental Football League.
They'll now find out how they fare against another of last summer's national semi-professional titlists.
The 11-0 Express are bound for Daytona Beach, Florida, where Saturday's USA Bowl XV will take place. They'll face the Iredell County (North Carolina) Warriors, who went 12-1 as winners of the Carolinas Elite Football Alliance.
Kickoff at Daytona Beach's Municipal Stadium is at 8 p.m. The game will be streamed live on Facebook and at usabowl.org.
Saturday's game was arranged through the American Football Rules Championship Series, which also organizes such meetings between the victors of spring and fall semi-pro leagues.
This will be Erie's first appearance in a USA Bowl. The Express accomplished that by beating the Inglewood (California) Blackhawks 42-40 in the GDFL final last September.
Iredell County, located in southeastern North Carolina, is making its fourth appearance in such a game. The Warriors were winners the last two years.
Erie is led by quarterback Brandon Hanna, who threw for 1,162 yards and 20 touchdowns during the regular season.
Strong Vincent graduate Donte Harden was the team's top rusher (319 yards and nine touchdowns) and former Cathedral Prep and Edinboro University player Koran Williams its top receiver (29 catches for 399 yards and seven scores).
