Escambia County church a 'total loss' after overnight fire

Obedience in Faith Ministry in Ensley is a "total loss" after a fire destroyed the church's building Tuesday morning.

Eight Escambia County Fire Rescue units responded to the church on the 300 block of East Olive Road around 2:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the attic.

"The fire had already consumed the entire attic space of the 3,000-square-foot wood-framed church," an ECFR Facebook post said. "The flames were knocked down by 3:02 a.m. and were completely extinguished by 3:48 a.m."

ECFR says there were no injuries or fatalities, but the building was completely destroyed.

Pace Fire Rescue District, Escambia County Sheriff's Office and Escambia County EMS also provided assistance. The Bureau of Fire and Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.
