ESPN: Ohio State football not listed as one of most storied programs in college football history
What are the top five most storied programs in college football history?
Apparently not Ohio State.
ESPN's Chris Russo unveiled his list on First Take this morning, putting Oklahoma, USC, Alabama, Michigan and Notre Dame over the Buckeyes.
""The helmet, the Big House, (Fielding Yost... all the good players who have come out of there. Yost discovered football in 1910 in Ann Arbor. It's not even debatable," Russo said when he put the Wolverines at No. 2. "Michigan, I know they have been bad and the Ohio State win kind of soothed a little bit of the wounds this past year. But overall, when you talk college football, you have to talk... about Michigan."
When Russo named Notre Dame as his most storied program in college football history, he called the Fighting Irish "the biggest game on every team's schedule."

Ohio State's case for making the list
Ohio State seems to make a pretty compelling argument to be included on Russo's list.
Ohio State comes into the 2022 season tied for second with Alabama for most wins in college football history with 942, and is tied for the lead with the Crimson Tide for the highest winning percentage in Division 1 college football history at .731.
The Buckeyes are tied for eighth in college football history with eight national championships, more than Oklahoma's seven and one less than Michigan's and USC's nine.

Of all of Russo's teams listed Alabama is the only one to have won a national championship since USC in the 2004 season, which was later vacated by the NCAA. The Buckeyes last won a national championship during the 2014 season.
Ohio State also has 41 conference championships, including 39 in the Big Ten and 10 undefeated seasons, including, most recently, the 2012 campaign: the Buckeyes' first with head coach Urban Meyer.
The Buckeyes have had seven players win the Heisman Trophy, tied with Oklahoma and Notre Dame for the most in college football history.
Ohio State is set to have head-to-head matchups against both No. 1 Notre Dame Sept. 3 and No. 2 Michigan Nov. 26.
