ESPN predicts Raiders will win more than 8 games during 2021 season

Heading into the 2021 NFL draft, the win total for the Las Vegas Raiders sits at eight wins on most sportsbooks. And with the NFL going to a 17-game schedule, that means bettors are forced to wager if the team will have a winning or losing record this season.

If you are an optimistic person, you could make the case that Jon Gruden has the team trending in the right direction as their win totals have improved in each of the last two seasons. But if you are pessimistic, you could make the argument that the roster is worse now than at this time last year.

So what should the expectations be for the Raiders this year? In a recent piece by ESPN’s 32 beat writers, they predicted every team’s win total for the upcoming season. For the Raiders, Paul Gutierrez believes the team will win more than eight games this year:

“Alert the Las Vegas sportsbooks. If for no other reason than the Raiders have improved from four wins in Jon Gruden’s return to the sidelines in 2018 to seven wins in 2019 to eight last season. So, if 1 plus 1 still equals 2, an improvement is imminent, no? Truly, the bigger question is whether the Raiders collapse at the end again, as they did in losing five of six to end the 2019 season and five of seven last year.”

The draft will be vital for the Raiders’ success this season as they need to find a way to improve their offensive line and defense. If they can find a starting right tackle in Round 1 and add depth to their defense, it wouldn’t be shocking if the team won nine or so games in 2021.

Entering the fourth year on Gruden, it’s time for this team to have a winning record and make the playoffs. Anything else would be a major disappointment.
