ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith: Alabama should be in the College Football Playoff over Ohio State

One of the more vocal sports commentators provided his stance on where Alabama stands in the College Football Playoff picture. When asked about where Alabama and Ohio State should rank, Smith was adamant about the Tide being ranked atop the Buckeyes. “You know where I’m going. Alabama should get in. You don’t get to go in the playoffs when you get beat down like that. Ohio State does not go in after a loss like that,” he said.

The College Football Playoff rankings are set to be released on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. EST. Many expect the top four to be Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and USC in no particular order. However, the college football world will have a close eye on who is ranked No. 5 and No. 6.

After a blowout loss at home, the Buckeyes could drop significantly. That remains to be seen. Alabama’s 22-point victory over Auburn could push the Tide over the Buckeyes. It remains to be seen what the playoff committee will do. It is clear what Smith’s stance is, though.
