'Essential Mental Health Worker:' Naperville Hero

NAPERVILLE, IL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Darren Nowell who nominated his wife, Dr. Nefertiti Nowell of Naperville.

Reason for recognition: Dr. Nowell has been a front line essential mental health worker throughout this pandemic. Leading offices of clinicians who continued to service patients non-stop as stress levels increased and even through loss of employment for some patients.

One thing to know: She offered free group therapy on handling COVID stress during the heart of the pandemic in Illinois.
