Estero High grad Matt Prater signs two-year deal to stay with Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals resigned kicker and Estero High graduate Matt Prater to a two-year contract on Wednesday.

And he gets a raise.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, his new contract is worth $7.5 million over the two seasons with $4 million guaranteed.

When he signed with the Cardinals two years ago, he got a two-year, $4.65 million contract with almost $3 million guaranteed.

The 38-year-old made almost $3.6 million in salary in 2022 and became a free agent as season's end.

Prater missed four games with a hip injury but in 13 games last season, he made 22-of-25 field goals, including 5-of-6 from 50 yards and beyond. He also converted on 17-of-18 extra points.

In 2021, he was 30-for-37 on field goals, making even from 50 yards and beyond, and 47-of-49 extra points.

Prater will be entering his 18th season and ranks 21st on the NFL’s all-time scoring list (1,674 points) and third among active players behind Robbie Gould (1,961) and Mason Crosby (1,918).

Prater holds NFL records for most made field goals of 50 yards or longer (71), field goal percentage on kicks of 50 yards or longer (74.7), consecutive made field goals from 50 or more yards (14), and holds the record for longest field goals made with Denver (64), Arizona (62) and Detroit (59).
