Estero man killed in one-vehicle crash Tuesday night on U.S. 41 north of Corkscrew Road

A 46-year-old Estero man died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle crash along U.S. 41 in Estero.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was driving a pickup north on 41 just north of Corkscrew Road when he tried changing lanes.

Troopers said the man lost control of the pickup, ran off the road to the east and crashed into a utility pole and a tree.

The man died at the scene, troopers said. They did not release the name of the man, citing Marsy's Law.

The crash closed 41 for several hours.

The fatality was at least the 102nd death on Lee County roads in 2021, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. By the same date in 2020, there had been 88 deaths on Lee County Roads.
