Estero country singer Ben Allen is already used to the national spotlight. He made it all the way to the Top 9 singers on “The Voice” in 2020.

Now that spotlight shines on Allen again on Sunday, Oct. 29. He’ll be singing the national anthem during the Miami Dolphins/New England Patriots game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

"I'm super-excited about it," Allen said Tuesday. "I've done the anthem before, but nothing in this category. Not with that amount of people involved (laughs). ... This is on a different level, you know?"

Allen announced the news Sunday on Facebook.

“Sooooo proud to share this with y'all!!!,” he wrote. “On October 29th at 12:57 pm I'll be standing in the west end zone of @hardrockstadium performing our National Anthem for the Miami Dolphins vs. The @patriots game!!!”

Where to watch Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

The game will be televised on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ and fuboTV.  To watch the game live at the stadium, tickets start at $199.

Allen said he's not sure the national anthem will be televised or streamed. They usually save that for big-name acts such as Chris Stapleton.

He's sung the national anthem at games before, he said, including a Fort Myers spring training game with the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins. But this is a much higher-profile: As many as 65,000 people watching him perform at Hard Rock Stadium.

Is he nervous? A little, he admitted.

But that's OK.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he said. "I always look forward to the things that make me the most nervous nervous, honestly. Which I think helps propel people forward to life."

Allen got the gig after the Miami Dolphins emailed him and offered it to him. "I was like, 'Yeah!'" he said. "I couldn't believe they reached out to me."

On Facebook, Allen had this to say about anyone watching the show live: “If you're there I would sure appreciate good vibes and a few cheers of encouragement sent my way.”

Allen and his group, The Ben Allen Band, play festivals and venues all over Southwest Florida. He competed on "The Voice" in late 2020 and made it into the final nine on Dec. 8. He lost to fellow Team Stefani singer and eventual winner Carter Rubin.
