Estonian police have advised its citizens to avoid travel to Russia, as the border could be closed at any time as in Finland, Estonia police warned on its website.

"Due to migration pressure from Russia, Estonia may be forced to close border crossing points,” the message said. “You will no longer be able to return to Estonia through the closed border crossing point.”

Russia has started to intentionally send groups of foreign nationals lacking EU entry rights to the Estonian border, the police said.

Estonia will be forced to close border crossing points to protect national security and public order if this situation persists, "as has already been done in Finland due to migration pressure."

"In the event of closure of the border crossing point, this will apply to all those crossing the border here,” the police said. “This means that you will need to use another border crossing point to return to Estonia, which may add several hundred kilometers to your journey.”
