Estranged husband accused of fatal Collierville shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The suspect in the fatal Collierville shooting that left one woman dead and a man in critical condition has been identified.

Eric Otten, 52, the woman’s estranged husband, fled the scene and was found in Jarrell, Texas, the Collierville Police Department said.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting call on Fulford Way at around 5:43 p.m. Saturday. Officers were on the scene at 5:45 p.m.

Collierville Police say Jenni Otten was pronounced dead. Mark Cross was taken to Regional One Hospital; he remains in critical condition.

U.S. Marshals arrested Otten in Jarrell, Texas Sunday afternoon.

“We received information that he was in vehicle. The Marshall Services along with Texas Public Safety developed a plan to take him into custody. The plan was executed and it led to a successful where there were no injuries either to Mr. Otten as well as law enforcement. There were weapons found at the time of the arrest,” said Tyreece Miller with the U.S. Marshals Service.

Otten is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is being held until extradition can be determined.
