Ethan boys take eighth at Class B state tournament after loss to Faith
Mar. 18—ABERDEEN — Jackson Schauer erupted for Faith, as the Longhorns took down Ethan 75-56 in the seventh-place game of the Class B state boys basketball tournament on Saturday.
Schauer poured in 36 points on 12-for-16 shooting, knocking down all five of his 3-point tries and all seven free throws in the win.
Caden Selby tacked on 26 points for Faith on 11-for-18 shooting, as the Longhorns shot at a 54.9% (28 of 51) clip for the game. Ethan, conversely, shot 38% (19 of 50) from the floor.
The Rustlers were led by 20 points from Kody Klumb, who went 7-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-11 from 3-point range. Drake Gustafson added 11 points for Ethan, while Riley Endres chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.
Ethan went into halftime trailing 38-37 after shooting 62% (21 of 34) from the floor, but Faith outscored the Rustlers 37-19 over the final two quarters and held Ethan to 22% (6 of 27) shooting.
Ethan closed its season at 20-6 and claimed eighth place in its first state-tournament trip since 2014, while Faith, which played in its first tournament game since 2015 (the Longhorns qualified in 2020 but did not play a game due to COVID), finished in seventh place.
