HOPEWELL TWP. - It was lights, camera, action Friday in Hopewell Township, where a still-untitled Ethan Coen comedy shot scenes.

Crews gathered along Hartford Drive on Friday to begin filming scenes for what they refer to as the "Untitled Road Comedy," which will feature two women on a trip from Philadelphia to Tallahassee. Throughout the day, filming took place mainly inside houses along the 1200 block of Hartford Drive, near Rhode Island Avenue.

During filming, production crews lined large trucks along the roadway and neighbors could see the teams setting up various lighting equipment. Traffic was also halted around the neighborhood to accommodate for outdoor scenes after sunset, with Hopewell Township police officers ensuring the crew's safety.

According to film industry site IMDB.com, the film stars Margaret Qualley, a two-time Emmy Award nominee for Netflix's "Maid" and "Fosse/Verdon," who played the hitchhiker in the Academy Award-nominated "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," and Beanie Feldstein who played the best friend of the title character in 2017's Oscar-nominated "Lady Bird."

When an open casting call was announced in Robinson Township this past August, the Pittsburgh Film Office, on behalf of DeLisi Creative, said the film follows two queer young women in 1999 on a road trip from Pennsylvania to Florida. According to those on set, a discovery in the trunk of the car will prompt the film's villains to pursue the two women across the country.

The director, Coen, often teamed with his brother, Joel Coen, has won Academy Awards for "No Country for Old Men" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
