Ethan Lee, Jasi Jenkins win Barker Honda Athletes of the Week
E.D. White Catholic football player Ethan Lee and Ellender girls basketball player Jasi Jenkins were named Barker Honda Athletes of the Week presented by The Courier and Daily Comet on Friday.
Both athletes won a fan vote contest held from Nov. 28 through Dec. 2 at houmatoday.com and dailycomet.com.
Lee won the male contest after he had two interceptions during a 31-21 win over St. Thomas More in the Division II state semifinals. He returned an interception 55-yards for a touchdown with 3:53 left to seal the win.
Vandebilt basketball player Jordan Matthews was second, and Central Lafourche baskeball player Evan Griffin was third.

Jenkins won the female contest after she had 29 points and over 10 rebounds in a 79-25 win over Westgate.
E.D. White basketball player Elizabeth Ayers was second, and Central Lafourche basketball player Ali Rodriguez was third.
Area athletes from all 13 high schools in The Courier/Daily Comet’s coverage area are eligible for player of the week.
The players are nominated based on athletic achievements and winners will receive a framed certificate.
