New Ethos Bakery work begins + Ice Harbor Brewery opens + More restaurant news
Construction has started on a new home for Ethos Bakery & Cafe in south Richland.
Hummell Construction & Development broke ground on the $800,000 project at 2290 Keene Road, near Kozy Cup Coffee, after securing a building permit.
Ethos closed its restaurant at 2150 Keene Road, about 600 feet to the east, in November, as it prepared to move its flagship location into new quarters.
While it waits for its new building, Ethos is operating from its spot at 702 The Parkway, also in Richland.
The new building will house all of the bakery’s operations, including baking, milling and coffee. It will have more seating both indoors and outdoors and a drive-thru to serve customers.
Angelo Kora and Scot Newell started the business as Ethos Trattoria in 2011 at the Port of Benton. The business rebranded when it moved to south Richland in 2017. The Parkway location opened three years ago.
Washington Securities & Investment Corp. of Kennewick is the property owner and developer for the new location.
Ice Harbor Brewery opens
Ice Harbor Brewery opened Thursday for limited hours as it masters its new digs at the Public Market @ Columbia River Warehouse.
Ice Harbor closed its nearby restaurant and brewery earlier this year as it prepared to expand in the redeveloped juice plant at 10 E. Bruneau Ave.
Business hours are noon-3 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.
Ice Harbor advises large parties to visit its Clover Island restaurant until the new spot is fully up and running. “We’re keeping it low key,” IceHarbor said on its Facebook page.

Napoli’s Italian Restaurant opened in mid-June at 3280 George Washington Way in Richland.

Black Rock no more
Wake Up Call Coffee of Spokane has begun rebranding its newly acquired coffee shops in the Tri-Cities.
The former Black Rock Coffee locations adopted the Wake Up Call menu and have banners with the new name draped across their sides.
The local coffee chain began as Roasters Coffee and rebranded to Black Rock after the Oregon-based chain bought it in 2021.
Wake Up Call announced it took over ownership and operations on May 22, triggering a second name change in as many years.
The Back Rock deal expanded Wake Up Call’s footprint to 25 locations in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla.
Bucketz Bar & Grill
Bucketz Bar and Grill is preparing to open at 206 N. Benton St., the longtime home of Ice Harbor Brewery, in downtown Kennewick.
Bucketz secured a liquor license in May and is advertising for a bartender and other staff.
Ice Harbor is to reopen about two blocks east in its new, expanded space at the Public Market @ Columbia River Warehouse.
Kennewick townhomes
Cedar & Sage Homes, a Richland residential developer, plans to break ground this fall on a 107-unit townhome subdivision in south Kennewick, according to documents being reviewed under the State Environmental Protection Act.
The project includes 40 buildings with two and three units each on an 8.6-acre site at 6443 W. Hildebrand Blvd., near Ridgeline Drive.
