EU Council head Michel admits possibility of Ukraine joining EU in two years
“I’m not saying it’s unrealistic,” he explained.
“If there is a strong political will on the Ukrainian side to speed up the process, if there is the confidence, which I feel, in order to implement the necessary reforms, it is possible to speed it up.”

Michel noted that during the deliberations on Ukraine’s application to join the EU, “some hesitated, some were pessimistic.”
“But we have succeeded, you were finally able to get the candidate status quickly, compared to how it is usually done by the EU,” Michel added.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine wants to join the European Union within the next two years.
On Feb. 3, a Ukraine-EU summit was held in Kyiv, in which Ukraine took part for the first time as an EU candidate.
