The officials will focus on establishing mechanisms to finance the purchase of artillery ammunition, EU military operations, and the training of Ukrainian troops under the EU Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).

According to Reuters, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur believes that he and his colleagues will reach a "political consensus" on joint procurement of artillery roudns for Kyiv.

“If the (joint purchase) project comes to fruition, it will be a significant step in EU integration, as defense procurement has largely been the preserve of the bloc's individual member governments,” Reuters reported.

According to the Financial Times, Ukraine has requested the EU to deliver 250,000 artillery rounds every month in order to reduce shell shortage.

On Feb. 20, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that if allies fail to provide Ukraine with ammunition, the outcome of the war would be in jeopardy.
