EU regulators say Pfizer vaccine can be kept in the fridge for longer

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine can be kept in a fridge for just about as long as a cup of yogurt now, according to EU drug regulators.

On Monday, the European Medicines Agency said that unopened and thawed vials of the Pfizer vaccine can be kept in the fridge for a month. The previous regulation had the vaccine limited to just five days in cold conditions.

The new easing of restrictions is expected to allow for more Europeans to get their shots.

Pfizer vaccine’s low temperature requirement continues to make the distribution of the shot all the more difficult, particularly in developing nations.
