EU will sanction Russia if it deploys nukes in Belarus

First, it is necessary to disregard the Russian dictator’s statement and wait for the answer from the Belarusian side, the regime of Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, who is already complicit in the brutal illegal aggression, said Stano.
He stressed that EU member states would react with new sanctions to the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus.
He did not, however, spell out exactly what that sanctions might look like, explaining that such decisions are made by EU countries and the procedure is confidential.

The spokesperson added that the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus would become a further escalation and a direct threat to European security.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced on March 25 that he plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, declaring that “the collective West is already starting to use weapons with a nuclear component,” forcing Russia to “react accordingly.”
He justified his decision on the UK’s March 21 announcement that it will transfer depleted uranium shells for Challenger2 tanks to Ukraine. In turn, the UK Ministry of Defense stated that Putin was deliberately spreading false information.

Per Putin’s statement, 10 Belarusian aircraft have been converted by Russia for the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons, while the Iskander mobile short-range ballistic missile system, which can carry a nuclear projectile, has already been provided to Belarus.
The Russian dictator also announced that construction of a storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus will be completed by July 1.
The European Union’s chief diplomat, Josep Borrell, condemned Russia’s plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, stating that “the European Union stands ready to respond with further sanctions.”
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the world community to take decisive measures to prevent the possibility of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons. The ministry called for an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council to be convened immediately for this purpose.
