Euclid announces return of Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt

Nov. 12—Euclid's Recreation Department announced it will have its second annual Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt.

The hunt will take place Dec. 15 when kids between the ages of 2 and 10 try to find candy canes and other treats that have been hidden around Euclid City Hall, 585 E. 222nd St.

According to a city news release, attendees will begin by decorating a stocking which kids will be able to bring home, and end with a post hunt rest with provided cocoa and cookies.

The day will be broken up into two times — kids that are between 2 and 5 years old will start at 6 p.m., followed by those ages 6 to 10 at 7.

Recreation Director Mac Stephens said that more events like this help bring the community together, and that he hopes fun can be had by all.

"Last year kids had a lot of fun," Stephens said. "It's the second year that we are offering it. What we do is we hide candy canes around City Hall, and they find the candy canes. After the candy canes all have to come inside and there are art projects."

Everyone attending should bring a flashlight, and dress for the weather. Everyone participating must be accompanied by an adult.

While the event is free, pre-registration is required either by calling 216-289-8114 or by visiting www.cityofeuclid.com/program-registration
