Euclid to have fourth annual Trunk or Treat event

Oct. 8—Euclid announced, in what has now become an annual tradition, that its Trunk or Treat event for residents will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20 behind City Hall, 585 E. 222nd St.

The event held by the Euclid Recreation Department has been going on for the past four years. Members of the department wanted to provide a fun a safe environment for families to come and celebrate the spookiest time of year, according to Recreation Director Mac Stephens.

"Members of my staff came up with the idea of having the event initially in the parking lot where C.E. Orr Ice Arena is," Stephens said. "But we recently moved it behind City Hall. Residents can come and open up their trunk of their car or trunk. They decorate it and kids come by and collect their treats."

Kids will go car-to-car to collect candy from decorated trunks and be allowed to roam the parking lot that has been sectioned off for the event.

"The event is actually coordinated by the Recreation Department," Stephens said. "We are always looking to do something different for our community. This was an event that we decided to give it a try and it was popular right off the bat. It's also a way to let kids' truck or treat safely."

Registration for those trunk-and-treating are required by Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. All participants will receive a free bag at the start of the event that must be used for the night, and they also have to be in costume, according to the events website.

Those giving out candy are also required to register by Oct. 20, which is free, but they must come with an ample supply of candy in order to hand it out to anyone that comes to their trunk.
