The Kansas Highway Patrol responded Friday to the scene of a fatal traffic crash on US-75 highway just south of Holton.

Eudora McQueen, 90, of Delia in southwest Jackson County, died in a two-car crash Friday afternoon on US-75 highway, about one mile south of Holton, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The other driver — Sammy W. Ramirez, 56, of Horton — suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Holton Hospital at Holton, a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report said. Further information about his condition wasn't available.

The accident report said the crash occurred at 3:37 p.m. when McQueen, who was alone driving a 1997 Lincoln Town Car west crossing US-75 after exiting a business, failed to yield the right-of-way and was struck on her car's driver's side by a 2012 Chevy Volt driven by Ramirez, who was northbound on US-75.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the accident report said.
