EUP principals recognize dozens of accomplished students at awards banquet

Every year, the EUP Secondary Principal Association recognizes the most academically successful high school seniors in the Eastern Upper Peninsula with the EUP Principals award.

Every year, the EUP Secondary Principal Association recognizes the most academically successful high school seniors in the Eastern Upper Peninsula with the EUP Principals award.

\[To qualify for the award students must have a 3.3 grade point average or higher and a minimum SAT score of 1160 or a minimum ACT score of 24.

To celebrate the students, the EUP Secondary Principal Association hosts a banquet at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island every year where these students can be recognized and awarded. This years winners from every eligible school district have been announced.

Brimley students

Stephanie Bishop is a member of the student council, Key Club, National Honor Society and robotics. Bishop is pursuing a degree in psychology from Lake Superior State University.

Colin Hopper is a football player and dirt biker, he plans to be a mail carrier after graduation.

Carlie Keyser is a softball player and a member of National Honor Society and the softball team, she is currently undecided as to where she wants to attend college.

Siersha Miller is a volleyball player and a member of the National Honor Society. Miller is going to study gastroenterology at Lyman Briggs College in Michigan State University.

Grady Newland participates in football, basketball, baseball and golf at school. He will be attending Michigan State University to study law and become an attorney

Luke Slater is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the cross country, basketball, track and golf teams. Slater will be studying chemical engineering at Michigan Tech.

Shelby Smart is a student council, Key Club and National Honor Society member. Smart is planning on obtaining a bachelor's degree in sports science and a master's in athletic training from Northern Michigan University.

Alanna VanderMeer is on the volleyball and track teams as well as student council and the National Honors Society. VanderMeer is planning on studying athletic training at Northern Central Michigan College before earning her Ph.D. in occupational therapy.

Cedarville students

Meredith Emigh is part of the National Honors Society, the Youth Advisory Council, and the student council. She also runs track and plays both golf and volleyball. Emigh will be studying business at Michigan State University.

Ben Davis is a National Honors Society member as well as a member of the robotics club and a quiz bowl team member. He plans to study computer science at Lake Superior State University.

Sam Harman is part of the robotics club and wants to study engineering at Lake Superior State University.

Zachary Izzard is a robotics club member and will be joining the workforce directly out of school.

DeTour students

Claire Kuusinen is the class president and homecoming queen and is a member to several school related groups including the National Honor Society, the prom committee, the homecoming committee, the Lutheran church youth group, basketball, track, volleyball, ski club, theater and band. Kuusinen will be attending Lake Superior State University but is undecided in her major so far.

Garrett Newell is the homecoming king, a finalist in State National History Day and is part of the National Honor Society, the student government, ski club, basketball, track and weightlifting.

Engadine students

Drew French is the class president, a student council representative, vice-president of the Key Club and also participates in football, basketball, track, golf and youth group. He will be studying engineering at Michigan Technological University.

OCS students

William Parish plays on the basketball, track and soccer teams. He hopes to learn either carpentry or steel work at an undecided trade school.

Rudyard students

Andrew Borowski is part of the National Honor Society, and part of the robotics club and theater. Borowski will be learning accounting from University of Michigan Flint.

Wyatt Hunt is a part of the robotics, cross country, theater and quiz bowl teams as well as part of National Honor Society and student government. He will study mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

Ross Malaska is part of the National Honor Society and part of the theater, robotics, and quiz bowl teams. He wants to study computer engineering at Michigan Technological University.

Gabriel McKerchie is part of band group, the robotics club and a member of the swimming team. He hasn't decided between Lake Superior State University and Michigan State University, he will be studying pre-law.

Madison Mills is a member of the tribal youth council, the art club, student government and the Youth Advisory Council. She plans on studying health science at Bay Mills Community College.

Tristin Smith is a part of volleyball, basketball, track, youth group, student government and the National Honor Society. She is undecided about where she will attend college but she wants to study business administration.

Aimee Spring is a member of the National Honor Society, tribal youth council, student government, the quiz bowl team and the robotics club. She will be attending Bay Mills Community College for business administration.

Madison Strivens is a Youth Advisory Council member and part of the cross country and swimming teams. She will be attending Ohio Northern University.

Ethan Suggitt is part of the National Honor Society as well as the football, cross country, track, basketball, baseball and Lions Club teams. He wants to study actuarial science at Spring Arbor University.

Pickford students

Sydney Johnson is part of the National Honor Society, band, basketball, and volleyball teams. She will be studying mechanical engineering at Lake Superior State University.

Colin Thompson is part of band, football, track, robotics club, student council, Boy Scouts of America and the National Honor Society. He will be attending Lake Superior State University.

Hunter Hagen is part of the National Honor Society, football, basketball, track, baseball, quiz bowl and debate teams. He will be joining the work force directly doing masonry and custom tile work.

St. Ignace students

Makayla Hess is part of the National Honor Society, student council, Youth Advisory Council, track and cross country. She will be pursuing a career in social work after attending North Central University in Minnesota.

Allison Schultz is a basketball and track player and is also a member of National Honor Society, student council and the Youth Advisory council. She will be playing college level basketball at Ferris State University and pursuing a degree in plastics engineering,

Jacob Shipley is a member of the National Honor Society and the football team. He is undecided in where he wants to attend college.

Newberry students

Jacob Brown is on the hockey, football and track teams. He will be pursuing a degree in engineering from Michigan Technological University.

Mackenzie Dunbar is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club and plays basketball and softball. Dunbar will be studying to become a pediatric physical therapist at Grand Valley State University.

Priya Rao is a part of the National Honor Society, Key Club and student council. Rao will be studying to become a business consultant at University of Michigan.

Sault Area students

Mackenzie Anderson is a member of Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society and Students United. She will be studying accounting at Northern Michigan University.

Joanne Arbic is part of the Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, homecoming court and the swim and track teams. Arbic will pursue a degree in biology from Northern Michigan University.

Corey Armstrong is part of the Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, the quiz bowl team, book club and is a career in technical education student ambassador. He will be studying computer science at the University of Michigan.

Jaelyn Azevedo is the president of the student government and a member of National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America and Students United. Azevedo will pursue a career in fashion design from Kent State University with hopes of opening her own boutique one day.

Magdalene Bauer is part of National Honor Society, the quiz bowl team, the Soo Community band, and Soo Youth Orchestra. She is undecided about her choice of school but wants to study music education to teach music at a high school level.

Hannah-Louise Burd is a volleyball and soccer player as well as a member of National Honor Society and a homecoming volunteer. Burd will be studying marine science at Eckerd College.

Mackenzie Clayton is part of National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America and band. Clayton will be studying psychology at Ferris State University.

Delaney Cushman is an AP scholar and a member of Business Professionals of America and Students United. Cushman will be studying neuroscience at Harvard University.

David Daley is a part of the track team, he will be studying accounting at Bay Mills Community College.

Henry Finfrock will be attending Michigan State University.

Austin Gervais is part of the drama club and is undecided on his choice of colleges.

Dayton Graham will be attending Lake Superior State University.

Joseph Hammock is part of the Business Professionals of America and National Honor Society. He will be pursuing a degree in computer science at Central Michigan University.

Mya Hazley is a quiz bowl team member, she will be studying biochemistry at Ferris State University.

Anna Hildebrand is a part of the swimming and soccer teams as well as National Honor Society. She is undecided about her college of choice but will be pursuing a degree in marine biology.

Keenan Hoffman will be pursuing a civil engineering degree at Michigan State University.

Emily Kiekhaefer is a member of National Honor Society, swim and track teams. She will be studying law or political journalism at University of Michigan.

Hayden Klamerus is a basketball player and part of the National Honor Society. Klamerus will be studying oncology at University of Michigan medical school.

Alyvia Lori is part of the homecoming committee, National Honor Society and the track and swim teams. Lori will be pursuing a degree in chemical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

Elizabeth Ohman is a member of the National Honor Society and the swim and golf teams. Ohman is undecided on her college of choice but will be pursuing a degree in psychology.

Kyle Pine is part of the track team and will be attending Northern Michigan University.

Shaelyn Reno is a member of the Student Advisory Council and the National Honor Society. Reno will be studying cyber defense at Northern Michigan University.

Dylan Szabo is a member of the track team and is undecided as to his choice of college.

Colin Thomas will be attending Lake Superior State University.

Arthur Trevino is a part of Business Professionals of America and will be studying hardware engineering at an undecided college.

Corinne Waucaush is a part of the book club and will be studying vet tech at Lake Superior State University.

Tessa Wollever is a member of Business Professionals of America and is undecided as to a choice of college,

Ashlyn Zenner is a part of Business Professionals of America and will be studying business at Ferris State University.
